Two troubling stories from Kenya:
BLACKMAIL
Criminals in Kenya are using Facebook and online dating sites to find in-the-closet gay and bisexual men in Kenya, whom they then blackmail, Gay Star News reports.
Kenyan police are investigating.
The Gay and Lesbian Coalition of Kenya, or GALCK, cited 10 cases of such blackmail in recent months. The group urged victims to step forward and — in confidence — to tell what happened to them.
Identity Kenya reports that police launched investigations of blackmailers whom victims recently identified.
Under Kenyan law, male homosexual activity is punishable by up to seven years in prison.
STONING
A gay man was stoned to death May 27 by a mob after he and a sexual partner were spotted having sex behind a church in the Nairobi area, Identity Kenya reports.
The second man escaped from the crowd, but was reportedly in critical condition with internal bleeding and broken arms.
