A newsletter every Nigerian lesbian, bi and queer woman should read

With the country’s anti-gay law and Nigeria’s homophobia, being lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer in Nigeria can be truly frustrating and hard, but life can be a bit easier when we learn about the lives of others who are going through similar experiences.

‘Empower’ as the name implies, is an empowering bi-monthly newsletter focused on highlighting the lived experiences and realities of queer women in Nigeria.

The newsletter is published by Women’s Health & Equal Rights Initiative [WHER], an Abuja-based human rights organization working to advance and promote the well-being and equal rights of sexual minority women in Nigeria.

The e-newsletters are packed with inspiring stories and poems about queer life, and will definitely be an interesting read for any queer Nigerian woman living in any part of the world.

Also, quite interestingly, it describes lots of important events that any bisexual, lesbian or queer woman can attend. So maybe it’s time to say goodbye to loneliness and boredom.
