Please help: The goal of freeing 7 LGBT prisoners is in sight

Generous donors have contributed $2,434 — more than halfway to the goal of $4,500, which will allow us to set free seven LGBT victims of Cameroonian homophobia and provide them with needed food, medicines and hygiene items.
In addition to one especially generous $1,000 donation, we have received an offer of a one-to-one match up to a total of $1,000. So, for every $1 donated starting today, the impact of that gift will be double, boosting the fund drive by $2. If readers take full advantage of that offer, we will exceed our goal.
U.S. tax-deductible donations may be made via the St. Paul’s Foundation for International Reconciliation:
- On PayPal
- By using the “Donate” button on the Facebook page of the St. Paul’s Foundation
- By sending a check to St. Paul’s Foundation, 21 Marseille, Laguna Niguel CA 92677 USA.) Please write “Project Not Alone” on the memo line.
None of the seven prisoners selected for help by Project Not Alone 2022 is in prison for anything other than homosexuality.
We already have enough to pay for urgently needed medications for Amir ($164 for wounds inflicted by police that became infected in prison); Martin ($151 for treatment of skin diseases); and Octavia ($182 for treatment of herpes).
The $2,434 is also enough to cover the court-imposed fine for four prisoners (Elmer, Amir, Dick and Martin) who are eligible for release on July 10 if their fines are paid. The fine for each is $419.
Once additional donations are received, the full Project Not Alone 2022 will also provide:
- Deliveries of food and hygiene items, which are needed in the filthy, overcrowded prison that serves only one meal a day;
- Payment of the fine for Octavia, which would allow her early release on July 29;
- Expenses of pro-bono legal defense for Cam and Don, who have been detained without trial since their arrest on March.
