DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES – A gay Kenyan has been arrested after police laid a trap for him using an on-line gay dating service, Identity Kenya has confirmed.
Friends of Jimmy confirmed to Identity Kenya this morning that Jimmy was arrested after he met an undercover police officer who had been in touch with him using an online dating service.
The two are alleged to have met online several weeks ago and continued communicating before they decided to meet last week.
The arrest, according to the information we received, was made last week on Thursday. Jimmy is currently in a Dubai jail awaiting charges and possible prosecution. …
Jimmy works as a [receptionist] in one of the hotels in the city and is said to have arrived there early this year.
‘He is fine,’ said one friend to Jimmy. ‘We cannot involve or inform his family back in Kenya as yet because I think he can be released. He is also not open about his sexuality.’
