Project Not Alone has reached the goal of $4,500 to set free seven LGBT prisoners in Cameroon, with the support of many donors contributing via Facebook, PayPal and by check. Thank you all so much!

Keep an eye on the Erasing 76 Crimes news site for updates on the work that those donations make possible — for five prisoners, paying their fines so they will qualify for early release and, for two detainees, sending a legal advocate into the prison to represent them before and during their still-unscheduled trial.

U.S. tax-deductible donations are still being accepted. They will be used to pay for any unanticipated expenses related to freeing the seven LGBT prisoners, including the possibility that we underestimated legal defense costs. Any funds left over will be used to support the work of the financial sponsor of Project Not Alone, St. Paul’s Foundation for International Reconciliation, which underwrites publication and distribution of news that educates readers and viewers about the struggles of LGBT people in developing countries.
