Anti-LGBT laws: Cameroon

Cameroonian law currently provides for up to five years in prison for homosexual acts involving either men or women.

Penal Code of 1965 and 1967, as amended in 1972 states:

“Whoever has sexual relations with a person of the same sex shall be punished with imprisonment from six months to five years and a fine of from 20,000 to
200,000 francs.”

According to Human Rights Watch, Cameroonian prosecutors charged at least 28 people with violating that law between 2010 and 2013.
