Two Nigerians, Chijioke Okoli and Cisi Eze, popularly known as CJ and Cisi, have banded together to launch a radio show that will explore issues relating to homosexuality in Nigeria.
Okoli is an experienced radio show host, public speaker and media personality who once worked at WE FM 106.3 Abuja as co-host on a sex talk show. Eze is a radio personality, writer and regular contributor on the popular Nigerian blog Bella Naija. She is also a media and justice fellow of the Bisi Alimi Foundation.
The radio show. which is tagged ‘BARE IT,” will exclusively air online on Thursdays at 2pm on Browne Hill Radio, an online Nigerian radio station. The show is the first of its kind in Nigeria.
It promises to be exciting, because it is aimed at educating people both within and outside the LGBT community on happenings, the impact of the Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Act (SSMPA), health issues, coming-out stories, individual challenges, as well as some juicy gossip to entertain its audience.
This is indeed a welcomed initiative, because visibility has always been a key to acceptance.
